Triund : is the crown jewel of dharamshala , situated in the laps of dhauladhar 
mountains, it has the perfect view of the dhauladhar mountains on one side and kangra valley on the other. Triund is a very popular trekking spot . Triund attracts a lot of tourist every year from India and all over the world.

Triund  trek can be described as a tranquil trek which can be easily accomplished by almost all age groups . Triund has an unambiguous byway which goes through a beautiful mixed forest of oak, deodar and rhododendron . Trek is fairly easy for the first five kilometers but the last one kilometer may require a bit of toil , the last one kilometer is popularly know as the “22 curves” as it has 22 tiring  curves before you finally reach Triund. Along the way there are many small  chai shops where one can refresh during the hike. The traipse is worth it as the panorama when you reach triund is awe-inspiring and exhilarating .Triund is come-at-able for most part of the year except for when the byway to triund is cut off by heavy snowfall in the months of  January and February . Trip to triund can be planed diversely.

Far off from the hustle and bustle of cities, a trek to Triund offers you an escape into the_majestic Himalayas. Situated a few kilometres from Dharamshala, it is a place perfect for trekking with amazing trails offering scenic views of the entire Kangra_valley. A trek to Triund is short and simple. It can be done from either McLeodganj or_Dharamkot, which is 2km ahead of McLeodganj. The first half of the trek is a_gradually inclined walk with the last 2km from Snowline Caf_ which involves a vertical climb all the way till Triund. The evening sky from Triund is a sight in itself and is a good excuse for camping here at night.
The trek from Mcleodganj to Triund is a sharp one of over 1100 meters and it is absolutely worth it because of the refreshing walks amongst the Rhododendron and Oak forest. Town of Mcleodganj invites you to experience the vibrant Tibetan culture which is enjoyed by tourists from all over the world.


HOW TO REACH TRIUND

The starting point of triund trek is galu , however there are many options  to reach galu. Either you can hire a taxi from Mcleod Ganj till galu or you can start the trek right from Mcleod Ganj . Trek can also be started from Bhagsu Nag . From galu there is an unambiguous byway which goes through a beautiful forest of oak, deodar and rhododendron. Although it is best if you can hike all the way but if you can not hike all the way then you can hire a horse /pony and enjoy the ride

BEST TIME FOR TRIUND TREK

Triund is come-at-able for most part of the year except for when the byway to triund is cut off by  heavy snowfall in the months of  january and february . The best time for trekking is from March till May in first part of the year and September till December in the second half of the year. Though it is rainy in June and July but still trekking is possible ,the meadow is lush green presenting out of this world vista




Camping/Shelter

Since you are on a trekking trip, you will be carrying your own camping tents


Food Availability

Make sure to carry your own food during thr tek as you will not get any kind of eating outlet on the way.

Water Availability

Carry your own water during the trek. You might not get any opportunity to refill your water stock while on the way.

Where to Stay

Accommodation is available in the rest house of Forest Department, but water has to be fetched from a distance of about 2km. There are many good hotels in Mcleodganj. Also, you can rent tents and sleeping bags from Mcleodganj and camp there.


Sightseeing in Triund

The beautiful view of the entire Kangra valley is perfect for sightseeing. Trekking scene is well organized and one can choose many treks of longer duration which also include some scenic sightseeing options. These include Indrahar Pass, Minkiani Pass, Kareri Lake and all the way to Kuarsi Pass and Mani-Mahesh. If you have more time on your hand, take a trek from Triund till Lahesh Cave and explore the meadows below Indrahar Pass.

Itinerary

Reach Mcleodganj and check into a hotel. Take a cab till Dharamkot and from there trek to Triund. Camp for the night at Triund and then trek to Laka and Lahesh Cave and from there back toƫ_Dharamkot. The next day, you can see Mcleodganj and Dharamshala. Baglamukhi, Bajreshwari, Kaleshwar, Namgyal Monastery and Tea Garden are the places worth visiting in Dharamshala.
